By UOW Malaysia KDU

In an effort to cultivate a business mindset amongst young people the Penang State Government recently introduced the Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge 2020. At a time when students are studying online, this competition endeavors to harness youth imagination to innovate to overcome business challenges. Nothing could be more relevant to the business situation we now find ourselves in due to the pandemic. The competition aims to illicit innovative and technological solutions to real business challenges.

Held from the 3rd of August to the 3rd of October 2020, and themed ‘Youth For the Future’ the the competition serves as a useful platform for Penang youth aged 18 to 30 to showcase their talent in innovation and technology.

We are pleased to announce a significant contingent of students from UOW Malaysia KDU George Town Campus have made it to through to the finals. Indeed, five teams have successfully entered the last stage of this competition, three teams from the Department of Computing and a further two teams from the Department of Mass Communication. The students are now preparing for the final round, which will be held on the 28th of November.

Team UOW Malaysia KDU is being cheered on by their lecturers who have dedicated themselves to creating an entrepreneurial eco-system which creates the thinkers, risk-takers and team players able to surmount any challenge.  We are looking forward to seeing the students return victorious. The prizes up for grabs in the competition include a first prize of RM15,000, with first runner-up and second runner-up receiving RM10,000 and RM8,000 respectively. Go team UOW Malaysia KDU!

The Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge 2020 is a collaborative effort and co-organized by the Penang government, Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), and the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneur Section (PCC YES).
