In recognition of significant existing and emerging partnerships among institution of higher learning/universities as well as industry, KDU School of Engineering, is delighted to embark on a formal partnership with the newly established institute called Smart Manufacturing Research Institute; an entity under the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Shah Alam Campus.

The signing ceremony was held at Grand Blue Wave Hotel, Shah Alam. The MoU document was signed by Vice Chancellor of KDU, Prof Dr Hiew Pang Leang and Emeritus Prof Ir Dr Mohd Azraai Kassim, Vice Chancellor of UiTM.

This alliance was mooted with an overarching goal of providing opportunities to share respective experiences, networks, technologies and resources on both academic and research engagement between institutions based upon the principles of mutual benefit.

Under the MOU, the two sides will coordinate the implementation of educational and research cooperation programs such as student and faculty exchanges, joint research, international conferences, seminars and other professional exchange activities.

Currently, KDU School of Engineering has commenced a working synergy on academic and research related activities for the students. As such, it’s timely that the partnership embarks onto a preliminary written agreement in view of setting a clear roadmap to both parties and which includes a commitment to explore potential for institutional exchanges between staff from each partner institution. The pact emphasised on their joint collaboration in terms of teaching, research, mobility programme and international conferences.The agreement also captures new opportunities in expanding the academic horizons with staff and students mobility programmes, training, workshops and many more.

Thus, the MoU signed between both institutions is poised to propel a new and more substantial engagement initiatives in the near future.
