The Ministry of Education (MOE) has taken the initiative to produce a children’s safety video “My Body is Mine” to provide early exposure to children on self-safety. The production of this safety video is meant to educate children especially the pre-school children on safe and unsafe touches on their bodies. School of Communication and Creative Arts (SCCA) UOW Malaysia KDU, play a vital role in producing the safety video towards the children safety.

The My Body Is Mine video will give the children a step-by-step easy way approach to this subject through fun animated songs. This simple video will give them ways, to empower children and help them to open the lines of communication.

The video been produced in line with the ministry’s initiative to introduce Reproductive and Social Health Education (Peers) through the Physical Education and Health subject (PJK).

“The ministry understand certain people taking advantage of the growth of the social media platforms by grooming the innocent children to the negative impacts. Therefore, providing awareness to children as early as possible on important issues like this is a must. Making ‘child grooming’ as a topic to discuss in classrooms will enable teachers to create awareness, remind and educate children, in order to protect our younger generation”, said Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching during her speech in launching of a new safety video titled “My Body is Mine”.

The one-and-a-half-minute video is targeted to educating young children on ‘safe touches’ and ‘unsafe touches’ through simple lyrics and dance moves. It is produced, with the cooperation between UOW Malaysia KDU University students and Ministry of Education. Through this cooperation, it is part of the initiative of the Kerjasama Awam-Swasta (PPP) in education towards recognition and encouraging the private sector to be involve in the education system of the country, Malaysia.

The “My Body Is Mine” video will give us a step-by-step easy way to approach this subject through fun animated songs.
