There are many social and ethical issues surrounding the use and abuse of drugs. These issues are made complex particularly because of conflicting values concerning drug use within modern societies. Values may be influenced by multiple factors including social, religious, and personal views. Within a single society, values and opinions can diverge substantially, resulting in conflicts over various issues involving drug abuse.

UOW Malaysia KDU: Protect is a community by Student & Alumni Centre. This project is a platform to create awareness among the students together with the society to protect ourselves either physically and mentally.

Year 2020, marked the first UOW Malaysia KDU: Protect whereby UOW Malaysia KDU collaborated with Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), National Anti Drug Agency (NADA) and Serene Psychological Centre to bring an impact and awareness to the students and communities. Themed for this year is about drugs. ASP Noraznim from Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) and Ms Raaghidasakti from Serene Psychological Centre came as representative of each body to talk about the effect and usage of drugs to drivers in a forum session titled as ‘Drugged Driving’. Apart of that, Student & Alumni Centre invited K-9 unit lead by Sergeant Ganeson from IPK Bukit Aman demonstrated a K-9 dogs.

K-9 unit is a unit composed by law-enforcement officers partnered with highly trained canines. These specifically trained dogs are chosen or bred for their intelligence and strong sense of smell. With the objective of exposing the students and communities to the harm of drugs abusing, National Anti Drug Agency (NADA) have held an exhibition about drugs. This initiative driven by Student & Alumni Centre (SAC) we hope that the communities surrounding could get an awareness and find a proper channel for them to reach out in order to protect themselves from any harms.

People in recovery find that their physical, spiritual, and emotional health are all connected, and that supporting one supports the others. Taking care of all aspects of you will increase the likelihood that you stay well.
