Sujata holds a Bachelor (Hons) in Computer Science from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM),  Masters in Software Engineering from Open University Malaysia and a PhD candidate with research interests in the areas of computer security and image processing from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She is also a Certified Software Tester and Certified Hacking and Forensics Investigator. An academician at heart, Sujata began her career in lecturing where she has progressed through several positions in the last 18 years.

She has worked in various capacities which have developed her both as an individual and a professional where she is trained in developing market-driven programs in both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. Well-versed with the procedures and policies of faculty management and the operations within Institutes of Higher Learning. She is professionally trained in academic development and collaborates with researchers from various institutes on research grants.
