Dr Ong Song Quan Dr Ong Song Quan Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Dr. Ong is a lecturer in the Centre for Pre-University Studies at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College. He obtained his MSc in applied entomology and Ph.D. in medical and veterinary entomology from Universiti Sains Malaysia. He is the associated fellow of Malaysia Science Association (MSA) and the board committee of the Malaysian Journal of Sustainable Agriculture (MJSA). He published more than ten high impact journals and proceeding papers including Parasite and Vector, Journal of Medical Entomology, and Journal of Economic Entomology that ranked under the first Quartile (Q1) journals. His primary area of expertise focuses on the sustainable control of Aedesmosquitoes and house fly- Musca domestica. His research involved more on the biochemistry of the dengue vectors such as the extraction of semiochemicals, interaction between the microbes and dengue vector, biological control approaches, insecticides (toxicology, resistance, and degradation), and measurement for the house fly population. Furthermore, to manage the food waste, fly larva was introduced to rice waste in order to convert the waste into useful protein. In addition to his current research, other areas that interest him for his future research will be the determination of biological insecticides from plant waste, the insect as animal feed, and entomophagy.
