Dr Lim Chia Yean is a first-class computer science graduate from School of Computer Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2008. She received USM Fellowship Award to pursue Doctor of Philosophy in Information System Engineering and completed her PhD studies in 2016. At the same time, she also obtained Master of Arts in Management Studies from University of Hertfordshire.

Dr Lim Chia Yean is currently the Head of Department at the Department of Computing in UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College. She teaches mainly courses in business information system, entrepreneurship and innovation, IT project management and various computing programming languages. She also embarks in research focusing on the areas of knowledge acquisition, data analytics, technology acceptance as well as gamification teaching & learning.

She presented in various conferences such as Sixth Edition of the International IEEE Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry (IEEE-RTSI 2021), Italy, Blackboard Teaching and Learning Conference (TLC 2019), Korea, 1st International Conference on STEM Education (iSTEM 2019), Malaysia, and Asian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS2015). Her publications have appeared in IEEJ Transactions on Electronics, Information and Systems (ISI-indexed), Journal of Physics: Conference Series and Journal of Advanced Material Research.

She had supervised more than 30 undergraduate and master degree students’ research dissertation. She also involved in employer projects and research collaborations with various research institutes and industry companies such as UTAR Research Fund and CREST-USM grant (with Keysight Technologies). She also involved in other grant research such as UOW Internal Research Grant Scheme, Exploratory Research Grant Scheme (ERGS) and Technopreneurs Association of Malaysia (TeAM) Cloud Computing Project. Dr Lim is also a certified Train the Trainer for adult learning and TRIZ (level 2). She was also a speaker for School of Computer Sciences Colloquium 2017, USM and is a consistent poster judge for the school’s Computer Science Masters Innovation and Demo event.
