What is mass communication?

Mass communication is the field in which information or messages are delivered through a medium to the masses. The study of mass communication includes learning how to effectively get your message across to the target audience via your chosen medium. 

Mass communication has evolved over the years especially with the internet. It now includes the virtual world, with information being dispersed online. Other popular forms of media include television, newspaper, billboard, and radio.
