What is Interior Architecture?

Interior Architecture looks at the interior and how it functions in terms of human occupancy. It is a blend of art and science to design, create or restore the interior of buildings, including workspaces, offices, homes, and other types of spaces. Interior architecture also includes the adaptive re-use of indoor spaces.

What is the difference between Interior Design and Interior Architecture?

While there is definitely overlap between Interior Design and Interior Architecture, here are some things about the latter that set it apart:

  • Interior Architecture focuses on structural renovations with interior architects dealing with the technical part of the design process.
  • Interior Architects usually work with contractors, technicians and others who are involved with building and/or renovation.
