What is ACCA?

ACCA stands for Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. It is the world’s most forward thinking professional accountancy body with more than 227,000 fully qualified members and 544,000 students worldwide creating innovative, strategic thinking accountants that our fast-changing world needs.

The 13 ACCA exams are divided into 3 levels – Applied Knowledge, Applied Skills and Strategic Professional. As such, you will gain technical knowledge in accounting and finance as well as organizational management and strategies. 

ACCA members generally work in the accounting and finance fields in corporate sectors. It is a qualification worth pursuing as it ensures you have all the necessary skills needed in this field and hence, gives employers the assurance that you can do your job.

The PAC Club at UOW Malaysia KDU, especially for Professional Accounting students, is the best place for students to enhance their communication, organisational and leadership skills. Students are able to participate and engage in various activities that not only develop their skills, but also build friendship and camaraderie. Some of the activities recently organised include:

Applied Knowledge (3 Papers)

The Applied Knowledge exams provide students with a broad introduction to the world of finance and develop students’ essential understanding and techniques in accounting.

Strategic Professional (4 Papers)

The Strategic Professional exams prepare students for future leadership positions. They develop the strategic vision using students’ unique blend of technical, ethical and professional skills. Students can specialise in areas that best suit their career ambitions. Students must complete both Essentials exams and choose two of the options.

Ethics and Professional Skills Module (EPSM)

EPSM is an online learning module that tests students’ decision making and behaviour in a number of real-world business scenarios. The module uses realistic business simulations to develop a number of professional skills such as leadership, communication and commercial awareness.

Academic Qualification

A-Level* :




5Bs inclusive of English and Mathematics


Diploma (Accounting and Business related) :
Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.50


Foundation in Accountancy/Certified Accounting Technician :
Pass (exempted from Applied Knowledge level)


Foundation Studies :
Pass with a minimum CGPA of 2.50


Degree :
Pass (exemptions up to 9 papers)


*  In addition to the above mentioned requirements, the students must have obtained a credit in Mathematics and English at SPM level or its equivalent

English Requirement

Local Student :
Credit (SPM / 1119 / UEC / GCE O-Level examination) ; Min. score of Band 4 in MUET


International Student :
Band 6.0 in IELTS; or a min score of 60(IBT) or 488(PBT) in TOEFL; or score 59 and above for Pearson English Test


Malaysian students who do not possess the English requirement stated above, will have to attempt and pass a compulsory English module concurrently in the first semester of ACCA program.
