Based on the Youth Empowerment Series (Y.E.S) offered earlier by UOW Malaysia KDU, the Virtual Y.E.S Camp 2020 emphasised empowering clubs and societies to further drive soft skill development amongst their leadership. Since 2014, Y.E.S. Camp has been held annually and provided detailed briefings and exciting activities for club/society leadership. The program focusses on providing a platform to transform club executive from core to adaptive future leaders.

Clubs and societies provide a  vital cultural role within campus life, be it in the provision of events of a social, recreational or professional nature. The Virtual Y.E.S camp aspires to spark creativity and polish leadership skills towards further enhancing the vibrancy of the campus experience. Furthermore, these clubs and societies perform an important role in creating networking opportunities amongst university college communities, alumnus, and external parties.

All these events need to be organised in alignment with the established guidelines for operating within the new normal. SAC took the initiative to meet all Clubs and Society leaders virtually on 26th June 2020 via Cisco Webex and brief them on operating under the new normal. According to Sarah Hindle, who is the Team Captain for the Netball Division Sports Club, the Y.E.S Camp was a good initiative from SAC as it ensures all Clubs and Societies understand the guidelines in organizing an event as well as how to keep student members active during Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) via virtual activities and events.
