SHTCA Students Stars In Careers @ Hilton Hospitality Cup 2019 Competition

KDU students from the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (SHTCA), made everyone honoured by coming on top at the Career @ Hilton Hospitality Cup 2019 organised by notorious international hotelier Hilton Worldwide Malaysia. The awards aimed to expose students to various careers and opportunities with Hilton Worldwide.

KDU’s SHTCA sent 20 students participating in this grand event, while 5 of them participated the competition by two in each categories which is The Barista Cup Challenge and Culinary Cup Challenge and single participation for The Barista Cup Challenge.

Can Wei Xuan, Kelvin student of Diploma in Culinary Arts programme, won the first place in The Barista Cup Challenge; whereas Woon Sze Xuan, Snowvy on 1st Runner Up. For Culinary Cup Challenge, goes to Michael Stephanus Yoshua from Diploma in Culinary Arts at the 2nd Runner Up. Sean Quah Kah Ming, Diploma in Culinary Arts won third place in Bar Cup Challenge. Kudos to all the participant!

This is perfect platform for career awareness to showcase and highlight many opportunities available for young people in the hospitality industry”, mentioned Sharizal Kamaruddin, Academic Department Head of SHTCA.

Snowy, Woon Sze Xuan is her first competition she joined and managed to be a champion for the Hilton Barista Cup. “I was surprised once they announce my name. The prize is actually for all of us. My signature drink is based on “City Bird” which mixer of coffee and winter melon. It actually my family signature drink where they adding the mixture by themselves.”

Apart from trophies and certificates of participation, the winners also received attractive prize of a 3 days 2 nights stay at the Executive suites across all Hilton lodgings in Malaysia.
