UOW Malaysia KDU Penang Organised Its 1st Conference: International Conference On Technology And Humanities (Icotech2018)


Local and international research experts gathered at the first International Conference on Technology and Humanities (IcoTech2018) here at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College to explore the latest innovations available. The two-day conference held on Nov 17 and 18, witnessed fruitful engagements between researchers from international, public and private universities. They exchanged ideas and shared their research findings throughout the conference with the theme of “Envisioning Challenges” that will be faced by the people for the fourth industrial revolution, IR4.0.

IcoTECH2018 was officiated by the Deputy Chief Minister of Penang, Prof Dr. P. Ramasamy. Deputy Chief Minister Prof Dr. P. Ramasamy stressed the importance of history, economy and STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). Dr. Ramasamy also briefly introduced several education initiatives in Penang namely the Tech-Dome Penang, Penang Science Cluster, and Penang Digital Library. IcoTech2018 organising chairman Dr. Gomesh Nair said the conference served as a platform for researchers to explore latest researches and applications of algorithms, as well as theories and applications in the field of engineering, computer sciences, information technology, management, and humanities.

The conference was supported by the University of Lincoln which is UOW Malaysia KDU Penang Partner for Its Dual Award Programme for computing and business degree. Also present to officiate IcoTECH2018 were the Associate Pro-Chancellor of University of Lincoln Dr.David Cobham and UOW Malaysia KDU Penang Deputy Vice-Chancellor Associate Professor Dr.Brian Imrie.
